Pilots & seat credits go to Birdfarm (Iceman I think specifically? - forum's down)
This aircraft is a birdfarm quality aircraft, set to comply with the September 2011 Modding Contest requirements.
Made within a couple of hours in Google Sketchup. Model was then exported, modified, animated, etc with Dnmviewer, Ysvrml2.0, gepoly(x/o) and camo was cut in Blender.

Description:

Code: Select all

Following the 2018 Indo-Pakistani War, the US and NATO forces had required a quick response attack aircraft. For its reliability and renowned past, the F-15E Strike Eagle and Tornado GR4 were chosen. Due to unforeseen enemy unidentified, advanced SAM systems being deployed, the multiple Tornadoes and, for the first time, Eagles were lost in combat.

The war ceased after only 4 months of sporadic, yet deadly engagements, but it taught a lesson to the RAF and USAF. A new fighter competition was announced, the Advanced Attack Fighter (AAF) program. The program called for an attack aircraft designed for speeds over Mach 2, capable of supercruise, designed to be able to penetrate enemy airspace stealthily and deliver high payloads. In essence, the program called for a Tornado replacement for the RAF and a F-15E supplement for the USAF.

Lockheed Martin, having bought General Dynamics after winning the UCAVX program in 2015, put forward a design that took in aspects of both the Panavia Tornado and the General Dynamics F-111. The resultant aircraft was titled the XA-52 Honey Badger, nicknamed after the African mammal, famous for being able to shrug off bee swarms, snake bites and other wounds inflicted by the creatures it feasted upon.
Taking this animal's spirit into the program, Lockheed designed the XA-52 to be extremely tough, looking towards new developments in carbon nanotube technology which allowed Lockheed to make an incredibly rigid aircraft. Taking advantage of this technology also allowed Lockheed to return to the classic swing wing design, which would allow the Honey Badger to use small airstrips like the Tornado was designed to use, while still being able to cruise at high speeds like the F-111. The tough material also allowed the core structure to be made more sparse, allowing the implementation of a bomb bay that is 5 metres wide and 6 metres long. This meant that armed with 500lb JDAM bombs, the 'Badger would be able to take 14 munitions to the target, for devastating effect. Additionally, for unstealthy missions, the aircraft is capable of carrying 2 externally mounted rocket pods under each wing root and 2 flare pods at the rear, under each engine.

Stealth wise, the aircraft has deeply buried PW F-152-100 after-burning turbofan engines which are capable of delivering 20 tons, or 44,000 pounds of thrust each, when after-burning. During cruise, the engines can pour out a maximum of 13 tons or 29,000lb of thrust, to achieve a supercruise in excess of Mach 1.5. Combined with 2D thrust vectoring stealth nozzles and advanced heat sinks on the upper fuselage, the XA-52 could achieve high thermal stealth at lower supersonic speeds, preventing enemy IR sensors from being able to detect the Honey Badger. Radar wise, the XA-52 was the first US-made aircraft which utilised metamaterials designed to bend enemy radar around the nose cone and to a very shallow angle on the fuselage. The fuselage itself is coated with RAM used on the Block 15 F-35s and designed to reduce radar contact specifically from ahead, below and behind. The intakes to the turbofan engines utilise an S bend which takes the intake upwards and inwards, before returning to a straight intake where radar waves must pass through a variable rotary radar blocker designed to also control airflow into the engine.
With advanced avionics brought over from the latest F-35 airframes, the Honey Badger also enjoys the most advanced avionics in the world
for an aircraft of its type.

With all this in mind, the US DoD and UK MoD selected the XA-52, now F/A-52, as the aircraft to fulfil the AAF requirement.
Today, the RAF currently keeps their F/A-52's painted a low visibility grey. The USAF, in spirit of the F-111, maintains some F/A-52's in green and brown camouflage, although most of the fleet is also in LO grey. The F/A-52 has seen combat in Tajikistan but is already being considered by several nations such as Australia and Italy for force projection for South East Asia and North Africa respectively.

February 20th 2010
Well, this is my first official release ever and my first use of dnmviewer.

[previmg]http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll17 ... PAKFA2.jpg[/previmg]

Although current info and image releases point to the PAK-FA being different to my model (having splinter camo, a framed cockpit like the prototype, etc) I would simply like to release this, as due to the number of school assignments that I'm being handed, I'm being stripped of time.

Credits for this aircraft go to Impulse for the original T-50 model, Taskforce 58 for the missiles seen in the aircraft and Welnio for the original cockpit (from the 241st Black Flanker), chutes and the aid he's given me with the canopy.

There's the files, read-me and also an image of what I was loosely basing the aircraft colours off.

This model has opening weapon & auxiliary missile bays, moving LERX, deployable 'chutes, an opening cockpit with transparent canopy, tweaked .dat, changed spoiler solution, changed rudders (now about 2/3 of Impulse's version and without the gap at the end), downsized collision file and the rest of it.

Enjoy:

The F/A-36 is a 6th generation tactical warfighter.
It is designed to operate from anywhere in the world, whether it be a local airbase, or an aircraft carrier deep in enemy territory.

From its perch, it is designed to be able to move to the battlefield stealthily and quickly, at speeds never achieved by any other fighter, before delivering a precision payload. This payload can be as precise as a 500lb bomb destroying a bridge, or it can be as precise as a beam of light, thanks to the world's first, deadly laser projected from a fast jet.
This special weapon is known as the Zeus and combined with the F/A-36 airframe, it creates a very deadly weapon, designated the FAL-36.

The FAL-36 laser weapon platform has 2 modes, pilot controlled and AI controlled, the former allows the pilot to aim the laser with his eyes, while the latter gives aiming control to a sophisticated artificial intelligence that aquires targets and fires upon them, with the precision and frequency that no human can achieve.

*NOTE*
For server owners, ensure you delete the last line in the .lst, the one with the thunderf.dat, dnm, etc, that's the AI version and it's far too powerful for servers (it engages ground and air targets - along with the fire rate, it makes it too dangerous.

This aircraft was basically thought up during lunch at work, drawn on the back of a payslip, drawn up on Sketchup, exported and then extensively modified in gepoly, notepad, dnmviewer, etc.

Some extra features:
Gunpod inboard of the leading edge flaps opens and closes at under and over 375-400knots.
On the laser variants a targeting laser can be activated by pressing the bomb bay button.
Cockpit opens with thrust vector.
The laser versions have a refuelling hole that is exposed when you activate VG (s or w generally), note that it can take a little while to open though.
On the normal versions, the second F1 view is the guncam.
On the laser (pilot) version, the second F1 view is roughly the laser targeting view.
On the laser (gunner) version, the second F1 is a straight-down view for watching ground targets burn and the second F1 view is for viewing far away targets from you or aircraft.

Credit:
Afterburner: Buck
USAF insignia: Midnight Rambler
Pilot+tons of help regarding smoothing: Welnio
Beta testing (aka enduring me chatting on and on): Welnio, Mh3w, H3csc, Flasheart <sort of>

One other little thing: any and all custom creations that I do in the future will have the tag prefix [Dragon].
Real aircraft like the "Su-50" PAK-FA (name may not be confirmed, but the T-50 certainly is real) will not have these tags, the 241st balloon will have the [241st] tag like the aircraft in the wic works pack.

MQ-21 Promo *old video, actual DL looks better*

The MQ-21 Sea Eagle or "Gulbi" in the indigenous language of the Cadigal people of the now Sydney area, is a multi-purpose UCAV capable of vertical take-offs and landing via a rotating jet nozzle in the rear and 2 ducted fans hidden within the forward canards.

When Australia was threatened in 2014, defence contractors jumped at the opportunity to give the ADF what they needed. However, due to a low level of funding available, few platforms were reasonable to purchase. Realising the unique situation, Lockheed Martin produced a proposal to the ADF's Defence Science and Technology Organisation to create a cheap strike aircraft capable of reinforcing the RAAF's reduced capabilities.

Through this program, the MQ-21 VTOL UCAV was produced, a light UCAV capable of operating from regional bases and areas in the North and capable of delivering a precision payload of 6, next generation AXM weapons, capable of striking air, sea or land targets. Needing to have the ability to combat 5th generation aircraft, the MQ-21 is stealthed to enemy radar and is highly manoeuvrable with all-moving wings, canards, rudders along with 2D thrust vectoring.
Like my original PAK-FA release, this is going out mainly due to assignments - it is probably 95-99% final, but there are a couple of things that could definitely be improved on. Overall I'm okay with it; it's fun to fly, it looks decent and it's an aircraft that could work in real life.

Credits go to Iceman for the AIM-9X models used to portray the AXM's and LBG for the RAAF roundels.
Aid credits go to Iceman again as well as Welnio.

Future projects:
Tu-160 mid/high detail.
241st pack future & legacy updates.

Reuploaded with a fix for the .lst (I'm using a slightly different file organisation as compared with my prior mods, meaning that when I went to copy over the pakfa's .lst strings I forgot to edit in it's new subdirectory).

Question: Why is the Pak-FA shooting down a MiG-21?

I thought they were already on the brink of going postal... all the time.

by the way, speaking of russians and vodka, I was browsing Cracked.com the other day, and I saw that after the soviets won WW2 they partied so hard that a week later there was no vodka left in all of Moscow. I didn't think there were enough people on earth to consume that much alcohol at once...

edit: my bad, I digress

The Su-50 is one of the few Ruskie aircraft I really love, though I don't like fanboys who overstate it's capabilities. Good job Dragon.
